POLINARES Final Conference: Accessing Oil, Gas and Minerals in a Changing World

The POLINARES Final Conference took place in Brussels on 28th November 2012. The conference, co-organised with the French Institute of International Relations (Ifri), presented the main findings of the project to a wide audience including policy makers, academics and stakeholders.

Workshop on Framework for formulating future policy approaches to address tension and conflict relating to access to oil, gas and minerals

The sixth Thematic Workshop for the project was held on 25th April 2012 in London. The workshop was run by the University of Dundee and hosted by the University of Westminster. The aim of the Workshop was to share with external academics and practitioners the provisional outputs of Work Package 4.

Workshop on Future risks in access to oil, gas and minerals: known challenges and underestimated complexities

The fifth Thematic Workshop for the project was held on 15th December 2011 in Brussels and was hosted by the North Atlantic Treaty Organisation (NATO). The aim of the Workshop was to share with research and policy staff at NATO the approaches and initial findings of the project, especially those relating to Work Packages 1 and 3.

Workshop on WP3 (Identifying the major risks for future tension and conflict relating to access to resources)

The fourth Workshop for the project was held on 15th November 2011 in The Hague and was hosted by the Clingendael International Energy Programme. The aim was to share some of the preliminary results of WP3 with specialists not directly involved in the project in order to refine the draft report before completion in February 2012.

Mid-term Review Meeting

The Mid-term Review meeting was held in Brussels on 28th June 2011. This meeting focussed on the outputs and ideas of policy relevance from the first phase of the research.

The second of two Workshops (Cooperation and conflict in access to mineral raw materials) was held in Paris at the Paris School of International Affairs on 1st June 2011 in order to share the ideas and results emerging from WP2 with specialists not involved in the POLINARES project.

The first of two Workshops on WP2 (Future availability and use for oil, gas and key minerals) related to the ‘energy security’ issue was held in Paris at the Paris School of International Affairs on 31st May in order to share the ideas and results emerging from WP2 with specialists not involved in the POLINARES project.

Workshop on WP1 (Framework for Analysis)

The Workshop on WP1 (Framework for Analysis) was organised by the University of Westminster and held on 8th September 2010 in London. The aim of the meeting was to receive comments, ideas and criticism from specialists not involved in the POLINARES project and to start the process of disseminating Work Package 1.
