Dr Frank Marscheider-Weidemann
Skills/Experience
Dr. rer. nat. Frank Marscheider-Weidemann studied chemistry at the University of Hamburg where he completed his doctorate degree in technical chemistry. From 1992 to 1993 he worked as a postdoctoral research assistant at the Institute for Technical and Macromolecular Chemistry of the University of Hamburg.
Since 1994 to present Frank Marscheider-Weidemann has been working for the department “Sustainability and Infrastructures” of the Fraunhofer Institute for Systems and Innovation Research in Karlsruhe. He worked on several projects implementing planning instruments for energy and environmental concepts like emissions inventories, recycling concepts or LCA. He analyzed emissions and the fate of hazardous substances in the environment, e. g. for the priority substances of the Water Framework Directive or for silver as biocide. Another focus of his works is the use of raw materials in innovative and emerging technologies.
Role in the Project
Scientist at Fraunhofer ISI.
Fraunhofer ISI will contribute to the definition of the list of non-energy raw materials to be studied in detail. In-depth analyses of current and foreseeable future technological trends with an impact on the demand for selected (non-energy) raw materials will be performed.
